Fat Transfer in Dallas, TX
What is Fat Transfer?
Another method of sculpting facial tissues, breasts, and buttocks is via fat transfer. Fat transfer has become increasingly popular among Dallas, Richardson and Carrollton residents. During this procedure, natural body fat is used to fill in wrinkles, plump up cheekbones, enhance thin lips, or add volume to the breasts or buttocks. Natural fat is an excellent filler, as your tissues immediately accept it. It can also create a more permanent result as opposed to artificial fillers.

How is Fat Transfer Performed?
Under either a general anesthetic or sedation, fat is removed from the selected area, generally your stomach. It is then put through mechanical separation process prior to being injected into the desired region. Our surgeons take extra measures to help ensure viability and longevity of the transferred fat by using a gentle fat harvesting technique and a micro droplet injection technique which allows fat to be injected evenly and deep into the tissue layers where it will have adequate blood supply to thrive. Many patients are opting for stem cell enriched fat transfer which involves mixing the fat with a heavy concentration of your body’s own stem cells, which are extracted from your fat cells. Fat cells have a higher concentration of stem and regenerative cells than any other source in your body, even more than bone marrow and fetal tissue. In cosmetic applications, stem cells have shown to enhance blood flow to the fat and also promote collagen growth.
Fat transfer procedures take approximately one to two hours, depending on the number of treatment areas. Whether performed under sedation or general anesthesia, our staff will ensure that you are comfortable during the procedure.
Am I a Good Candidate for Fat Transfer?
Our fat transfer patients in Dallas, Richardson and Carrollton most often request this procedure to fill in lost facial volume due to aging or illness. It can be used to correct sunken cheeks, nasolabial folds, thin lips, brow wrinkles, chin deficiencies, and many other common facial complaints as well as provide added volume and shape to the breasts and buttocks.
You can be any age to receive this treatment. You must, however, have excess fat on your body to use in order to be a suitable candidate. The best candidates have proper expectations and are able to comply with aftercare instructions.
What Kind of Post-Operative Fat Transfer Care Can I Expect?
Immediately after the procedure, you will notice swelling around the treatment areas. Expect some of the fat injected to be absorbed by your body, so the surgeon may inject slightly more than necessary to achieve the final result or recommend subsequent fat injections in the future. Typically, 30%-50% of the fat that is initially injected will reabsorb over time but, due to the additive nature of fat transfer, subsequent fat injections tend to reabsorb at a lower rate yielding longer lasting results. Cyropreserving additional fat for future injections, or fat banking, is highly recommended to avoid having to undergo liposuction again in the future when subsequent fat injections are needed. Our patients find fat banking to be an affordable and convenient option when compared to the fees they would incur if undergoing liposuction every time a subsequent fat injection is needed. Our practice has partnered with Biolife Cell Bank which is a fat and stem cell banking facility located in Dallas, TX.
Most of our fat transfer patients find that they can return to work within a few days. You may wish to use ice and over-the-counter medications to help control the swelling. We advise our patients to avoid strenuous physical activity for about three weeks after their procedure. While the injection sites will have healed, you should take care not to injure the fat removal area. After three weeks, you should be able to expect the final results.
What are the Typical Results of Fat Transfer?
Fat transfer patients are typically thrilled with their results, which may include fuller cheeks, plumped-up lips, smoothed-out skin around the forehead and eyes, and fuller breasts or buttocks. And most patients are comfortable using their own fat rather than introducing a foreign substance into their bodies. Full results are evident within one week and can last one to several years and even more long-term, in many cases, given the special fat harvesting and injection techniques used by our surgeons.
What are Dallas Fat Transfer Costs?
